FLY GIRL

Circus hip hop? Carnival big beat? No this is straight filter house goodness

Fat tape swipes clear the way for a wide 303 line that comes bubbling over some creeping disco drums, a prince inflected chorus and hollow synth stabs turn it into a spacey funk trip through the cosmos

UNEMPLOYMENT

from 1989: Jamie Principle croons breathy stories of club love over Frankie's cavernous track

from 2008: Andrew Butler's dubbed out Good Life lines take shape around Nomi's statuesque vocals

ps. files will now be posted on divshare, there is no waiting time and it should be a little easier to use.

Long time no see

This is a remix from fellow vancouverites Crooks & Gunn I havent heard them spin yet but this remix is crazy, they freak the strings from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (also sampled by Busta Bus) into a serious b-more workout.

Next is a man doing big things in house this year, Kalabrese, this song will make you feel dirty and happy.

CAPTAIN JERK

Five reasons old Star Trek kicks ass:

1. Primary colored uniforms.
2. Amazing analog synth fx.
3. Spock's robot reasoning.
4. Captain Kirk anticipating his own death and leaving video-taped instructions for Spock and his crew offering words of insight and a plan of action!!!!!!
5. Sixties in outer space set design replete with pink animal skin blankets.

some cosmic sounds to accompany your mid afternoon.

REWORK

Refracting the original through his psychedelic prism erol stretches the dreamy original into a searing hallucination. Magnifying the dramatic synths into grainy distortion and drenching the vocals with memories of fuzzy electronics.

Hot Chip - And I Was a Boy From School (Erol Alkan's extended rework)

Villalobos strips away the lush layers of depeche mode's sinner in me leaving only a raw bass line and nuanced hand drumming. Ricardo builds the suspense slowly, letting the minimal elements mingle with the eerie vocal sample until you find yourself so enamored with the glistening details that you cant look away.
